Off the back of a good win last week, Exe were hoping for a repeat performance on home ground this time but a tougher opposition made this a trickier challenge. Great attacking play from both teams made it an end to end game but some uncharacteristic panic moments from Exe meant they gave themselves an even tougher challenge. They fielded numerous short corners with solid defence and fantastic saves from Tori Smith in goal. 0-0 at half time meant both teams had a point to prove and goals started to come. Mel Vaggers made a brilliant run down the left and popped the ball to Robyn Walton whose reverse stick strike found the backboard. 1-0 to Exe! A swift reply from a messy short corner breakdown led to Firebrands’ getting a goal back to make it 1-1. Exe’s experience and determination prevailed over the visitors however as a beautifully-placed pass from Emma White found Louisa for a lovely deflection into the net on the post. 2-1 to Exe! Man of the match, Robyn, wasn’t finished there and sealed another 3-1 win for Exe with her second goal flying into the roof of the net. Another brilliant win, amazing effort girls!
