Exe dominated the first half with much key defending needed from Ashmoor. The persistence paid off when a free hit taken quickly fed into the circle by Izzy Finucane-Fenn with Daisy Keyte wasting no time putting it in back of the net to put the hosts 1-0 up at half time. During the half time break, it was clear Exe needed to be sharper with moving the ball to prevent Ashmoor coming back for a draw as they did last time Exe played them. As expected, the opposition went up a gear and started to penetrate Exe’s defence, and several key saves by the defenders, including a last minute save close to the line by skipper Jojo Bannister kept the visitors from equalising. A see-saw second half saw both sides letting opportunities to score goals slip, but Exe held the opposition off well and were pleased to finish the game with a hard earned 1-0 win, conceding zero penalty corners. A fantastic all round effort and team performance.
