Exe 2s Vs Plymouth
Win 4-1

01.12.2018 the first day of Christmas saw both teams arrive with a focused, festive determination. From the moment of the first ‘correct’ whistle both teams demonstrated high quality passing, distribution and skill. This type of hockey always makes it such a great match to play in.

Plymouth Uni scored early, taking the lead through a fast paced attack. They are a well drilled team who played with great patience passing around the back, making the Exe team track; thankful for all our Popey inspired sprints sessions at training our perseverance and fitness paid off. Getting a string of strong passes together to score and equalise. A superb strike from the top of the D saw the hockey dynamite Sersh score an equaliser.

A dynamic centre for Exe saw Hope, Emma, Fi and Mel * working relentlessly to meet the ball first and turn over play to dominate then distributing timely passes to the dynamic due of Sersh and Whitty (players of the match). Sersh took on a few of the well positioned defence to score what appeared to be at an almost impossible angle on reverse stick. Huzzah this young player is definately a name to keep an eye out for in the future.

[when Mel was on the pitch, she thought Christmas had come early when she got a first festive green card. ]*

We welcome the return of Robyn who linked up well with Whitty who roofed the third goal into the net off the keepers pads.

Strong defence from Kate, Caitlin, Karen and Josie (who finally realised it was the weekend), kept a strong Plymouth team out of the D and prevented them from any further goals. Any time it went near Tori she demonstrated composure in the final line of defence clearing the ball with ease.  Exe dominated the second half and a final fourth goal came from Whitty.

The umpires and players commented on what a great match it was to play.
Thanks to all that make these matches possible.
