Match Report

Exe 3s faced a tough game against the current top of the league dominators; Falmouth. Braving the elements of storm Brian, we set off in our new formation with the aim to push forward, work closely as a unit and score some goals!

Once the whistle blew, Falmouth quickly set up a fast paced game. This didn't deter us and we used our skills and strength to knock them off the ball on several occasions. Great defending by Sian Williams, Becky Goodwill, Emma Renshaw and Izzy Olney allowed us to keep the score at 0-1 to Falmouth at half-time.

Within the 2nd half we had some great opportunities in the oppositions D. Emma Corney and Brogan Algar did some fantastic runs onto the hard balls delivered by the midfielders and defence. Great team work gave us two short corners and some shots on goal which unfortunately didn't quite link up to the backboard.

Falmouth also had several opportunities from short corners; however Cissie's fantastic run and Tori's great saves disallowed any goals from going in. Exe 3's were so determined to show Falmouth what we're made of; we even had players who put their body on the line to stop the ball hitting the back board. Beckys shoulder save on the line unfortunately resulted in a successful flick bringing the score to 0-2.

We were up against a well-executed team who used their speed and acceleration to catch us off guard on the odd occasion which allowed them to score 3 more goals and finish the game at 0-5. Throughout the game Tori Smith made some cracking saves, providing us with opportunities to get back into the games on multiple occasions. This earnt her, the well-deserved player of the match.
