| Match Report | After securing their top of the league position with their win over Torbay 2s last week, Exe 3s went into their home match against Dartmouth with some trepidation. Having played consistently as a team for over a month, Exe are increasingly confident passing around the back, with the assertive defensive line up of Cissie, Becky, Sian, Daisy and Gael overseeing some fast transfers. Despite a pressing Dartmouth attacking force, the midfield combination of Leonie, Amanda, Megan, Lucy, Evie and Emma commanded the centre. Exe were rewarded after a lovely linking passage of play from Megan, Lucy and Roxy - with the high forward calmly slotting the ball past the opposing keeper. 10 minutes later Exe secured their victory with another fast attacking move from Megan and Roxy with the ever skillful Hope sneaking in a lovely goal. As the two teams entered the second half, Exe lost some composure after Lucy - an integral holding player in the middle- was injured. However, with some crucial saves from keeper Sally and some excellently places passes from Man of the Match and captain Becky, Exe held on to continue their unbeaten bid for promotion... hopefully a win next week against currently second placed Dart 1s will seal the deal. |
