Match Report

Skipper Kelly Luscombe asked for 3 things from her team -pace, passion and positivity; they gave her these in abundance.

With Stourport top of the league, and Exe second from bottom, they were the clear underdogs. Coach Simon McCollum wanted a good performance from the girls -and that they gave.

The first goal came from a deflection on a short corner, when Anna-Mae hit home Kelly Luscombe's long ball across the D. The intensity was high and Exe were holding their own and defending well. However a breakaway run came from the Stourport centre midfielder who found herself in a 1v1 with the keeper. She kept her poise and slotted away a good goal to make it 1-1. Exe then defended a short corner just before the break, which was run down by Claire Whitworth and cleared by Helen Bray.

The high pace of the game continued and 10 minutes into the second half Stourport's second goal came putting the home side 2-1 down. With great defending from Player of the match Gemma Barnet and a dominating role in midfield from Emma Ross, it was all still to play for as the rain came down. However the third goal for Stourport came following some good passing combinations to finish the game 3-1.

Exe have another home game against struggling side Trojans and are eager to pick up 3 points against them next week. All support is greatly appreciated!
