Exe started the game with a good set of attacks on the visiting Lydney side, using the pace of Becky Fagg and Kat Harris on each of the wings to lush forward. The visitor's defence was hard to penetrate however so a score for Exe didn't come until a good 15 minutes had been played. Laura Allen claimed the goal through a real goalmouth scramble with great advantage being played by umpire Sophie Simpson.
Lydney quickly formed their own attacks however and a quick break followed by a talented shot put the score to 1-1 by half time.
In the second half Exe came out with a more attacking formation but didn't get into gear until a breakthrough from captain Kelly Barrett 15 mins into second half. 2-1 wasn't enough for Exe though so four goals in the last ten minutes sealed the win as well as boost the home side's goal difference. Clare Whitworth, Helen Tully, Laura Allen and another for Whitworth right on the whistle made the score 6-1 at full time.
