Match Report

Exe continued their winning form this week with a 4-0 win against Bournemouth. Exe had a strong first half and after being awarded a short corner, Bridie Marlow got a deflection on a strike from Kelly Barrett. Exe had a number of clear chances but Bournemouth’s keeper made some great saves keeping the score to 1-0 at half time. The visitors then hit back hard in the second half but some solid defending from Helen Bray and Laura Jones denied them from scoring. After settling back down, exe started to dominate again and a one on one opportunity against the keeper saw Laura Allen claim a penalty stroke. Captain Kelly Barrett stepped up to convert the penalty. Exe then gained some momentum and shortly scored their third goal with a close range shot from Laura Allen. Some good build up play from the midfield and an attack down the right wing from Becky Fagg led to a cross into the D which Bridie Marlow got onto the end of, to bag her second goal of the game. Another solid performance from exe sees them at the top of the Women’s West Premier League.
